FASHION // Jumping onto the culotte bandwagon

Monday 29 June 2015

Hello!
Is it just me, or are culottes absolutely everywhere right now? I keep seeing uber chic people wearing them with sliders and white shirts, looking absolutely fabulous, but have been unable to pick myself up a pair. Fortunately, my local Primark had a pair go in the sale for £5 and I couldn't help but snap them up! I have worn them once and now understand why people love them - they are so dang comfy.

TRAVEL // Los Angeles, California Pt. 1

Friday 26 June 2015

Hey there!
I think this will be the post before the penultimate post recalling my trip across North America. It feels as if I have relived my journey for a second time and, yet again, I feel really quite sad it is over.

Anyway, we took the Coastal Starlight Amtrak from San Fran to LA. It may have taken 14 hours but I read an entire book and met some rather lovely people too. It was a long journey, and not the cheapest, but we got some of the most beautiful views (eventually).

LIFESTYLE // Caught my eye

Monday 22 June 2015

Hey!
Is it just me, or is it seriously easy to spend hours upon hours going through the internet reading articles? I should probably be reading scientific journals. Instead I'm reading articles with the word science in the title. That's close enough right?

A few have really caught my eye in the past few days so I'd thought I'd share them. It's always a good day when you are told that apparently eating junk food after working out is good for you, am I right?

TRAVEL // San Francisco, California Pt. 2

Friday 19 June 2015

Hey y'all!
Can you believe it is already Friday? Now that I'm working, the weeks are just flying by and I cannot cope! I have managed to triple book myself for this Saturday (clever I know) and wish I had more days in the week. It's crazy how I was far from that just two weeks ago!

Life update over: I had just 2 days in San Francisco in the end. We were meant to have a third but ended up booking a ticket on an Amtrak Train to go down to LA. Yes, it took 14 hours but it was quite nice. I read an entire book! Before then, however, we got up to lots of shenanigans including - you got it - getting lost again.

LIFESTYLE // 15 thoughts once you're back from holiday

Wednesday 17 June 2015

Hey!
I have been back from my travels for about a month now. I'm unpacked (bar my other suitcase somewhere over an ocean). I have a job. I have not been to anywhere other than work and the supermarket in the past two weeks. Let's just say I want to travel again and I am more than bored! These are just a few of the thoughts running/that have run through my mind in the past few weeks. I just want to see something new okay?

TRAVEL // San Francisco, California Pt. 1

Monday 15 June 2015

Hey there!
Following my stint in Vegas where I am pretty sure I lost no money in the casinos (well maybe $10 or so) I jumped on a plane for a couple of days in San Francisco. It took absolutely ages to find a reasonably priced place to stay and actually ended up at the Nob Hill Hotel. I found it via an Article on The Guardian online as, apparently, one of the best hotels/B&Bs to stay in San Fran and when I checked the price it was the best I had found so far. Once we turned up, I absolutely fell in love with the hotel and knew it was the right choice. It was just so adorable!

I have so many photos from my 2 day trip to San Fran so I have split them up into two posts. So let's start with day 1!

LIFESTYLE // The Netflix Tag

Friday 12 June 2015

Hey there!
I got tagged by the lovely Danielle at A Shi...pload of Polish in one of my favourite tag posts of recent - the Netflix tag! I have been taking advantage of Netflix this year due to it being cheaper in Canada ($7 and the CAD is 1.8 - £1 so it's an utter bargain!) and as a result productivity has decreased. Unfortunately I have cancelled my subscription after this month so I think this will be a nice commemorative post (because that is obviously needed).

TRAVEL // GRAND CANYON

Wednesday 10 June 2015

Hello!
How many times in your life have you looked at a view and just stopped for a second,  completely in awe of what you are looking at. Fortunately for me this has happened multiple times with the most recent being the Grand Canyon. I saw it when I was younger but it's really not something you can appreciate when you are more interested in the new Darren Shan book. I decided to see it again and yeah, it was worth it!

FASHION // Summer Wishlist #1

Monday 8 June 2015

Hello there!
Man, I must say that I have missed the British High street. Absolutely everything you want is right there for the taking and man, I want it all! From Dorothy Perkins to H&M, ASOS and even Next, there are just some absolutely beautiful pieces right now. In the words of Sharpay from High School Musical - I WANT IT ALL.

TRAVEL // Vegas Baby

Friday 5 June 2015

Hello!
How have I been back from North America for 3 weeks now? I'm already at the point of boredom where I am voluntarily doing organic chemistry. Let's just say that this isn't good. After Montreal I headed over to Vegas for 4 days. We stayed in Circus Circus the week of Rock In Rio so, as you can expect, it was super busy! The rooms were comfortable and had Jimmy Fallon on TV every night so I was happy. Sure, it's right at the end of the main strip but it was such a bargain I didn't really mind.

LIFESTYLE // 2 ways to use Washi Tape

Wednesday 3 June 2015

Hello!
Way back when (I was writing a very long essay at the time - probably on my 3rd draft) I was contacted by the lovelies at Prairie Charms to collaborate with them and their #PrairiePayItForward campaign. They took a generous 25% off their entire range and even more, they donated 25% of the order cost to the Make A Wish Foundation. I am an absolute sucker when it comes to a good cause and was too excited to contribute.

I chose some washi tape and super pretty paper straws and patiently (okay not so patiently) waited for my beautiful parcel to arrive. Turns out it turned up whilst I was in my last exam at UBC so that day may have been the best day in a very long time. They even threw in more washi tape and the most lovely hair grips as well. How lucky did I feel? (Spoiler - very. Thanks guys!) Oh, and the packaging was just beautiful. If all of my post came in holographic envelopes I'd be forever happy.

I have decided to show you guys a couple of DIY ideas for using washi tape. Sure, it's super useful for scrapbooking and decorating your walls but there are so many other uses (as seen on Pinterest). I am no DIY guru but I have had a lot of fun doing these projects and hope you do too!

TRAVEL // Montreal, Quebec

Monday 1 June 2015

Hello!
Are you guys ready for my next instalment of my travel photos? Of course you are!
After a few days in Toronto, I grabbed my bags and jumped on a 4 hour train to Montreal. We met the most adorable Canadian couple who said 'ey' at the end of pretty much every sentence and who had been married for 60 years or something. They gave us lots of tips too - especially on marriage. You know you've got a winner if you have a husband who lets you eat crackers in bed apparently.
